At macro distances, you need a lot of clean light to keep your aperture stopped down. The Ace 25c is small enough to position close, bright enough to matter, and its color is accurate, so skin tones look natural instead of orange or green.
How we use it on set
- Place one light on each side of the lens at about 45 degrees.
- Set both to the same color temperature.
- Diffuse them if the skin looks shiny or harsh.
- Adjust brightness until the monitor shows detail without glare.

Match the color temperature of both lights exactly. Mixed color is the fastest way to make skin look off.
