The whole Pore Tube studio runs on a Canon EOS M50, and the Mark II is the current version of that camera. It’s compact, it’s affordable, and with an adapter it works with Canon’s huge range of EF lenses, including our 180mm macro.
Why it earned a spot on our shelf
We wanted a camera that could send a clean live image to an external monitor, so the person doing the extraction can see exactly what’s being recorded. The M50 line does that over HDMI, and the Mark II adds improvements for creators on top.
How we use it on set
- Mount it on a sturdy stand or boom arm over the subject.
- Connect HDMI out to your monitor so the operator can see the live frame.
- Use the EF-to-EOS M adapter for macro lenses.
- Record in manual mode so exposure doesn’t jump mid-extraction.
Coach’s tip
Use a dummy battery or a power adapter. Long sessions eat batteries fast.
