If you’ve seen someone massage oil into their nose and then show tiny specks on their fingertips, that’s “grits.” It’s the tool-free side of pore content, and it’s weirdly satisfying.
Tools in this guide
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil · Aztec Secret clay · Paula’s Choice 2% BHA · CeraVe SA Cleanser
How we do it
- Start with a dry face and dry hands.
- Massage a cleansing oil like DHC Deep Cleansing Oil into the nose and chin for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Use light, slow circles. Patience is the whole trick.
- Add water to emulsify and rinse.
- Follow with a gentle cleanser like CeraVe SA Cleanser.
Want more grits?
Some people use a BHA like Paula’s Choice 2% BHA the night before or a clay mask like Aztec Secret clay earlier in the week. Keep it gentle; more steps isn’t always better.
What are the specks?
Mostly a mix of oil, dead skin and surface gunk loosened by the massage. It’s satisfying, but don’t scrub to get more. Gentle is the goal.
